Who We Are

Treggiaia: A Commitment to Quality

Our Commitment to Sustainability and Quality

At Treggiaia, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional extra virgin olive oil, whilst following sustainable practices and deliver high-quality products with authentic Tuscan flavors.

Rooted in the picturesque Tuscan Hills, some of Treggiaia’s olive trees are over 200 years old, blending tradition with modern techniques to produce premium olive oil and organic fruits and vegetables. Our dedication to sustainability ensures we leave a positive impact on both our community and environment.

We strive for Treggiaia to embody sustainability and quality, showcasing the best of Tuscany. Whilst our small size does not allow us to tackle all the bureaucratic requirements to obtain the official organic certification, the way we think and operate reflects and follows all the predicaments of organic farming.

Our Farm

We are a small, family run farm, with no ambitions to worldwide fame, but rather a simple goal to produce great quality olive oil, using sustainable farming techniques as much as possible, and letting nature run its course. Our focus is on quality, not quantity. We own or manage approx 300 olive trees, with many of them dating back to Napoleon time. We prune them carefully when needed, feed them regularly with organic matter and harvest them using gentle techniques.
In November 2025 we have planted an additional 1,100 olive trees, which we will carefully nurture in the next years, before they start to bear fruit in 3 to 5 years, thus giving a refresh and boost to the existing orchard.

Our Olive Oil

The olives are mostly from the varieties Leccino, Frantoio, Pendolino and Moraiolo, cultivars typical of Tuscany, and a small amount of Lazzero, a very flavourful variety specific to Casale Marittimo, where our estate is located.
Our extra virgin olive oil is obtained exclusively through cold pressing, a system that best preserves all of the oil organoleptic features and aromas.

Our estate is located in the outskirts of the beautiful village of Casale Marittimo, 30 min drive south of Pisa, on a gentle south facing slope, only a few km from the sea.

Our Journey

The Treggia: what is it?

Our estate derives its name from an ancient tool used by farmers in times long gone: the Treggia.
The Treggia was a sort of sledge, made of wood, which was attached to oxen and used to carry people, hay, wood or field produce around. It was used especially along irregular mountain paths and in muddy or snowy conditions, where a normal cart with wheels would have had trouble.
A Treggia is basically a cart, but with no wheels…
Our name and logo take inspiration from this ancient tool, and the farming culture it represents.
